The TC Beirne School of Law presented Corporate Liability and Compliance, the November offering in its Continuing Professional Development seminar series.

Held in conjunction with the Basel Institute on Governance and Transparency International – Australia, this one-day seminar addressed past, present and future of corporate criminal liability law ahead of the G20 Summit in Brisbane.

Gemma Aiolfi shared her extensive experience in compliance, integrity risk management and collective action, whilst Sydney’s Jane Ellis contributed a local perspective as a director of one of Australia’s leading anti-corruption NGOs.

Together, the facilitators reviewed key common and civil law approaches to corporate accountability for crime and reflected on the likely development of this area of regulation. The implications for multinational companies, their board members and employees were considered from a transnational perspective. Through group work and discussion, participants engaged with the challenges of implementing effective systems for compliance.
