Instituto Ethos

Brazilian Business Pact for Integrity and Against Corruption

Mission

Encourage companies to take a strong stand for integrity and against corruption in Brazil, while implementing measures to enhance controls and transparency in public-private collaboration

Goals

The goals of the initiative are as follows:

  • Be a reference in the promotion of integrity, in the value chain and society in general;
  • Strengthen commitment to ethics internally and externally;
  • Promote dialogue on public policies to provide for the betterment of the economy;
  • Provide access to dialogues and tools aimed to promote integrity;
  • Exchange experiences among organisations on strategies and practices related to preventing and combating corruption.

Activities

The text of the Pact is based on Transparency International’s Business Principles, the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the 10th Principle of the Global Compact and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. The Pact involves seven key commitments with procedures to prevent corruption and to promote integrity principles in the value chain.

The signatory companies commit, as part of the signing process, to participate in the Pact Monitoring Platform, whereby signatories complete an initial self-assesment and provide annual reports on their progress. Each year, signatory companies are provided with a Pact adherence score in a comparative analysis with other organisations of the same size or region.
