Mission

Improve the credibility of corporate compliance programmes

Goals

The long-term goal of this project was to improve the credibility of corporate compliance programmes. Achieving this will help increase public confidence and enhance credibility with investors, rating agencies, financial institutions, export credit agencies and government procurement agencies, which increasingly expect corporations to demonstrate effective compliance programmes.

This project assessed the strengths and weaknesses of the most commonly used methods of compliance verification and developed recommendations for companies when considering anti-corruption compliance verification.

Stakeholders

The project was implmented by Transparency International USA in cooperation with Social Accountability International with funding from the Siemens Integrity Initiative.

Activities

Project activities included:

  • Reviewing, assessing and reporting on the efficacy of current approaches to compliance verification;
  • Creating awareness and better understanding of the verification methods;
  • Promoting broad acceptance of the relative merits of the methods and findings.
