Mission

Address corruption in the Gauteng Province

Goals

The project aimed to address corruption in South Africa’s Gauteng Province through three main approaches:

  • Provide ongoing thought leadership to the Gauteng Anti-Corruption Forum exploring synergies to consolidate anti-corruption efforts across the various sectors while focusing on specific risk areas;
  • Strengthen ethics and anti-corruption management capacity of nine municipalities in the Gauteng province, including by setting up necessary governance structures, guiding the initial stages of implementing ethics management programmes, and cultivating a skilled cohort of Ethics Officers dedicated to advancing these programmes;
  • Create information and training resources to address ethical and anti-corruption issues in supply chain relations in the South African procurement environment through the Supply Chain Ethics and Anti-Corruption Program (SCEAP) aimed SMEs.

Stakeholders

The project was implemented by The Ethics Institute (TEI) with funding from the Siemens Integrity Initiative. TEI collaborated with nine municipalities in South Africa’s Gauteng province.
