Code of Ethics for Business in Kenya

Mission

Enable a cogent level of commitment by business to contribute to building a globally competitive and prosperous Kenya

Goals

The Code of Ethics for Business is a long-term initiative for the business community in Kenya that has the potential to evolve, depending on changes in the country's business environment. It is intended to enable a cogent level of commitment by business to contribute to building a globally competitive and prosperous Kenya.

Stakeholders

The development and promotion of the Code was made possible through partners including GIZ and the British High Commission in Kenya. As of 2015 there were 58 signatories to the Code, in addition to 50 other organisations that are committing to the fight against bribery and corruption by signing up to the United Nations Global Compact principles.

The Code was relaunched in 2024 under the leadership of the Global Compact Network Kenya.

Activities

The signatories to the Code are accountable to their stakeholders by way of annual disclosures, which demonstrate their efforts against bribery and corruption in their operations, including the supply chain. Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) monitors this, and ensures that these disclosures are made on time. However, contents of disclosures are not verified by KAM.
