Mission
Enhance Mozambique’s business environment by combatting corruption and strengthening ethics management
Goals
By adopting a Collective Action approach and enhacing ethics management capacity, the project aimed at curbing corruption in business activities and elevating overall business practices in Mozambique. The project focused on the following objectives:

Establishing a Coalition for Organisational Integrity (COI) in Mozambique as a robust Collective Action platform, fostering ongoing collaboration and exchange of best practice between businesses and the public sector

Enhancing the understanding and practice of business ethics within the COI through dedicated training sessions, aiming to institutionalize ethical business practices

Developing and implementing an ethics and anti-corruption training tailored to small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs)

The project was led by The Ethics Institute, who also functions as strategic planner and secretariat of the newly found Coalition for Organisation Integrity.

Activities
Following extensive awareness raising among large and multinational companies, the Coalition for Organisational Integrity was launched in 2020 and continued to gain momentum in the following years.
COI hosts best practice sharing sessions and Leading Practice Masterclasses focused on conflicts of interests and ethics and compliance and other topical issues, and conducts ethics trainings for various stakeholders.
COI also produces various integrity tools and publications, including the implementation of the first ever Ethical Culture Maturity Indicator in Portuguese and a Portuguese Codes of Ethics Handbook.
Further, COI implements the Ethically Aware Supplier Induction (EASI) programme in close cooperation with an in-country partner, Mozambique Enterprise Solutions (MozUp).
