Youth For Integrity

Mission

Foster a culture of integrity and ethical decision-making among undergraduate students in Bangladesh

Goals

The Global Compact Network Bangladesh (GCNB), after reviewing academic courses of selected universities, identified a lack of curricula on ethical business practices for undergraduate students. To address this gap, GCNB collaborates with University Career Development Departments to offer integrity workshops to undergraduate students from business, finance and economics departments with the aim of empowering future generations to make responsible and ethical decisions not only in their personal, but also in their professional lives.

Using a Collective Action approach, the workshops are designed to encourage students to identify corrupt practices, analyse negative impacts on society, and reflect on their actions which either mitigate or facilitate corrupt practices in their daily lives.

Activities

The workshops are designed to:

  • Help students understand the meaning and significance of good citizenship with ethical values by providing practical examples;
  • Facilitate brainstorming, creativity, and interactive role plays promoting critical thinking with self-reflection; and to
  • Encourage students to initiate Collective Action against any kind of corruption.

As of mid-2024, 460 students have been trained on integrity and anti-corruption in eight universities through 12 workshops. Furthermore, the University Grants Commission (authorised Bangladeshi regulatory agency) decided to advance the Youth for Integrity project and to adopt a course on Ethics, Governance, and Good Citizenship for Bangladeshi universities.
