Global Compact Network Uruguay Collective Action Initiative

Contribute to the establishment of the first anti-corruption law that promotes integrity and transparency in the private sector in Uruguay

The initiative’s primary aim is to achieve the enactment of Uruguay’s first anti-corruption law by developing recommendations and advancing transparency efforts. This law would enhance Uruguay’s regulatory framework by integrating the perspectives of businesses into the legislative process and reinforcing existing anti-corruption policies.

The initiative also seeks to formalise and provide governance to the Business Integrity Collective Action Working Group, established in April 2024, which focuses on reducing corruption risks and promoting integrity within the private sector.

The initiative is facilitated by the Global Compact Network Uruguay. More than 50 Global Compact participating companies from various sectors and over 100 professional have engaged in the Business Integrity Collective Action Working Group. In addtion, the initiative engages with professional and business association such as the Uruguayan Compliance Association and Chambers of Commerce to broaden its reach.

Since 2022, the Global Compact Network Uruguay has been actively collaborating with the Uruguayan Transparency and Public Ethics Board (JUTEP) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to support the draft of an anti-corruption law specifically for the private sector in Uruguay.
