Strengthening Transparency in the Healthcare Ecosystem: Prices Transparency and Value-based Care in India

The project aims to foster a more transparent, ethical, and accountable healthcare value chain that benefits patients, society, and businesses alike. By establishing and scaling up Collective Action against corruption challenges, the project aims to improve public-private partnerships, ensuring transparency in pricing, procurement, and service delivery. This initiative seeks to create a healthcare ecosystem where value-based care is prioritized, leading to improved patient outcomes, enhanced trust among stakeholders, and a more equitable healthcare system in India.

The initiative engages businesses and business associations from the pharmaceutical, medical equipment manufacturing and healthcare sectors, hospitals, academic and research institutes as well as patient organisations.

The initiative is facilitated by the Global Compact Network India. Partnerships with organizations such as the Alliance for Integrity and the Partnership for Transparency Foundation India (PTFI) have been instrumental in promoting the initiative and expanding its influence among SMEs. Additionally, efforts are underway to achieve accreditation as the National Hub for Alliance for Integrity.

The initiative focuses on the following activities:

• Engagement and awareness raising: Conducting knowledge-sharing sessions with patient advocacy groups on anti-corruption measures and outreach programmes for community accountability in healthcare.
• Advocacy for policy change and implementation: Fostering public-private collaboration on anti-corruption and value-based care through dialogues, multi-stakeholder workshops, consultative meetings, webinars, and global/national conferences.
• Capacity building and integration of services: Strengthening capacity and integration of anti-corruption measures through sensitisation programmes, workshops, quarterly sessions, and training on governance, ethics, and the Anti-Corruption Collective Action Playbook for academia, healthcare organisations, and corporate stakeholders.
• Research and publications: Publishing a compendium featuring 11 case studies focusing on best practices in fighting corruption and promoting ethical business practices in the healthcare sector and a publication titled ““The Evaluation of Health Systems in India: Decoding the Impact on Health Governance, Transparency, and Infrastructure,”” providing insights into the current state of health governance in India.
