Mission

Facilitate the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in Chile

Goals

The Anti-Corruption Alliance UNCAC Chile (Alianza Anticorrupción UNCAC Chile) aims to design and carry out actions to facilitate the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in Chile, such as introducing codes of ethics in the public sector, recognising good practices, legislative in-depth analysis, and making proposals to strengthen the national efforts to fight against corruption.

Stakeholders

The Alliance was created in 2012 by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile and the United Nations Development Programme.

It is a permanent and voluntary initiative that consists of 30 members from the public sector, private sector, civil society organisations and academia.

Activities

Some achievements of the Alliance are:

  • The signing of a partnership agreement to develop and implement codes of conduct at the local government level.
  • An increasing number of anti-corruption training activities for the public and private sector.
  • A series of training webinars on corruption risks during COVID-19.
  • Launching of a decalogue of actions to be taken to tackle corruption during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Bill prioritisation to close/reduce the gap between Chilean law and the UNCAC.
An increasing presence on social media: Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Recognition by UNODC and cooperation partners as a good practice in the fight against corruption in Latin America and the Caribbean.
