B20 Hub Collective Action
Privacy Statement
This privacy statement describes how and what type of data will be collected from this platform and the purposes, for which we may collect, share or disclose the personal data.
The purpose of this privacy statement is to inform you about what kinds of information we (the Basel Institute on Governance, hereinafter "Basel Institute") may gather about you when you visit or interact with the B20 Hub Collective Action website and how we may use that information. This privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for www.collective-action.com, which the Basel Institute on Governance controls.
If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy statement and use of personal information, please feel free to contact us by email at info@baselgovernance.org.
Automatic data collection
Like most web servers, our servers collect and store all of the information that your web browser sends when it requests a webpage, including:- the name, domain, and numerical internet address of the "host" computer (typically a computer belonging to your Internet Service Provider and not your personal computer) from which you access the internet;
- the date and time you accessed our site;
- the internet address of the web page that you came from;
- the page you requested from our site and the number of characters sent to your computer;
- the information your web browser software sends as its so-called "User Agent," which typically identifies the browser software and may also indicate the operating system and type of CPU used in your personal computer;
We periodically summarise and analyse these log files to learn how visitors use content on the site. This information is used to allocate resources effectively and to improve the content, organisation and performance of our site. This process does not collect, store or use personally identifying information such as your name, address, telephone number or email address.
Cookies
A cookie is simply a small piece of information that a web server asks your web browser to store on your local computer. Your browser may subsequently present this information to the web server. In its simplest form, a cookie is just an identifying number.
The B20 Hub Collective Action may use cookies for anonymous visitor tracking in certain circumstances, notably the temporary public voting function for the Collective Action Awards. Our web server assigns each visitor a unique numerical ID. All requests for pages are tagged with that ID, and by analysing log files, we can determine how many unique visitors used the site. For the Awards, for example, this is used to avoid the same visitor voting more than once.
We do not know the identity of a person based on the numerical ID. The cookies used on our website do not contain any personal information about visitors, nor are they used to look up personal information about visitors. Even if you have entered information about yourself in one of our web forms, we do not relate that information to the cookie data.
Information transmitted by email
When you send us personal identifying information via email (that is, in a message containing a question or comment, or by filling out a form that emails us this information), we use it to respond to your requests. We may forward your email to other employees of the Basel Institute who are better able to answer your questions.
We do not distribute lists of email addresses to any parties outside of the Basel Institute. Information collected via email will be retained at our discretion in a directly readable form as long as necessary to complete our response.
Collection and use of gathered information
It is the policy of the Basel Institute to collect only the personally identifying information (such as name, postal address, email address, telephone number) that visitors to our website knowingly and voluntarily provide by completing one of the forms on the website. If you do provide personally identifying information through one of our forms, that information may be shared with our finance and logistics partners and providers, who are contractually permitted to use such information solely in connection with organising and conducting Basel Institute on Governance activities.
The Basel Institute is the sole owner of the information collected on the collective-action.com site. We do not sell, share or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. We do not collect, save or store personally identifying information from visitors who just browse our website without completing or emailing any forms. We do not attempt to identify users or share user information with any parties outside of the Basel Institute, except as described above, in the event of a suspected attempt to deliberately circumvent our system's security with the intent to gain unauthorised access or to do physical damage (for example, an attack by hackers), and as required in the course of officially authorised law enforcement investigations.
Security
When users submit information via a web form on the website, that information is encrypted and is protected with SSL encryption software.
Links to other websites
The website contains hyperlinks to other websites that are not operated or maintained by the Basel Institute and are not covered by this Privacy Statement. Any links are provided only for your convenience. The Basel Institute has no control over, makes no promises or warranties of any kind with regard to, and has no responsibility or liability for, the content of any other websites or their privacy policies, their use of cookies, or the way they collect, save, store or use information. You should review the privacy policy of each website you visit.
Subscription to mailing lists
We may offer visitors the option to subscribe to a mailing list by entering their email address and any other information they wish to provide in a specific sign-up form. This information will be used exclusively for the purpose of sending the relevant information to the mailing list. You can delete your subscription at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" on the bottom of any email you receive via the mailing list or by emailing info@baselgovernance.org.
Newsletters or other mailings may sent via the Mailchimp platform. The information you provide when completing the newsletter subscription form is therefore stored on the servers of Mailchimp in the USA and may be used not only for sending but also for evaluation purposes. MailChimp will neither write to the addresses itself nor pass them on to third parties. To evaluate the use of the newsletters, the mails contain a pixel-sized file ("web beacon"), which is loaded from the Mailchimp servers when the mail is opened and transmits data about whether you opened the email newsletter and whether you clicked on any hyperlinks in the text. This information is used by Mailchimp to statistically record reading behaviour, which helps us to improve our content and offer.
Safeguards
The Basel Institute makes reasonable efforts to exclude viruses or other malware from the Collective Action B20 Hub, but we do not accept any obligation or liability in relation to these. You should take all appropriate safeguards before using the website or downloading and opening any files, including the use of up-to-date antivirus software.
Please note that in using the B20 Hub Collective Action and its resources and services, you agree to hold the Basel Institute harmless from and against any and all costs, liabilities and other financial consequences in connection with your use of the service and/or data obtained through the service.

By using this site or any subdomains, you signify your agreement with this Privacy Statement. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add or remove portions of this Privacy Statement at any time. Your continued use of this website and/or related services following changes to these terms means you accept those changes.
