Automatic data collection

The B20 Hub Collective Action may use cookies for anonymous visitor tracking in certain circumstances, notably the temporary public voting function for the Collective Action Awards. Our web server assigns each visitor a unique numerical ID. All requests for pages are tagged with that ID, and by analysing log files, we can determine how many unique visitors used the site. For the Awards, for example, this is used to avoid the same visitor voting more than once.

We do not know the identity of a person based on the numerical ID. The cookies used on our website do not contain any personal information about visitors, nor are they used to look up personal information about visitors. Even if you have entered information about yourself in one of our web forms, we do not relate that information to the cookie data.

Information transmitted by email

When you send us personal identifying information via email (that is, in a message containing a question or comment, or by filling out a form that emails us this information), we use it to respond to your requests. We may forward your email to other employees of the Basel Institute who are better able to answer your questions.

Subscription to mailing lists

We may offer visitors the option to subscribe to a mailing list by entering their email address and any other information they wish to provide in a specific sign-up form. This information will be used exclusively for the purpose of sending the relevant information to the mailing list. You can delete your subscription at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" on the bottom of any email you receive via the mailing list or by emailing info@baselgovernance.org.

Newsletters or other mailings may sent via the Mailchimp platform. The information you provide when completing the newsletter subscription form is therefore stored on the servers of Mailchimp in the USA and may be used not only for sending but also for evaluation purposes. MailChimp will neither write to the addresses itself nor pass them on to third parties. To evaluate the use of the newsletters, the mails contain a pixel-sized file ("web beacon"), which is loaded from the Mailchimp servers when the mail is opened and transmits data about whether you opened the email newsletter and whether you clicked on any hyperlinks in the text. This information is used by Mailchimp to statistically record reading behaviour, which helps us to improve our content and offer.

Safeguards

The Basel Institute makes reasonable efforts to exclude viruses or other malware from the Collective Action B20 Hub, but we do not accept any obligation or liability in relation to these. You should take all appropriate safeguards before using the website or downloading and opening any files, including the use of up-to-date antivirus software.
