In Pakistan, bribery and corrupt practices are common and there is a lack of infrastructure and tools for businesses to coordinate Collective Action. There are also low levels of integrity and an inefficient monitoring mechanism, which poses a risk to companies operating in the country.

MACN scaled up its Collective Action in South Asia and launched the new initiative in Pakistan with funding from the Siemens Integrity Initiative in 2021. The aim of this project is to establish a local collective action and deploy MACN’s compliance tools and methodology to improve the governance and efficiency of ports. These tools help empower the private sector to resist and report corruption. Together with UNGC Pakistan MACN has reached out to major shipping companies and agencies and arranged webinars and meetings to recruit industry players and create a local Integrity Alliance. MACN has also initiated dialogue with key national stakeholders which is instrumental to engage in the country and drive change.
